In the early 1980s, Kanso created a series of 242 tragicomedy ink drawings called Leaves from the Theater of War (1980-1992), communicating his personal account of the realities of war from across the globe. Titled in English, Arabic, German, French, and Spanish, the series reflects Kanso's interpretation of the universal nature of human societies, conflicts, and desires.
